Schon bei der  kleinen Pflanze (Selektion hier im Garten) zeigten sich besondere Merkmale, sodass sie den prospektiven und internen Namen ‘Violet Blue’ erhielt. Etwa im Jahr 2000 kam sie zur Begutachtung und etwaigen Vermehrung zur Baumschule Hachmann  (Hans Hachmann / Holger Hachmann).  Nach gemeinsamer Überlegung und Besprechung wurde diese Sorte dann von der Baumschule Hachmann (Holger Hachmann) benannt, als Patent angemeldet und als ‘Heckenblau’ (Hach 1) in den Handel gebracht. The small plant (selection here in the garden) already showed special characteristics, so that it was given the prospective and internal name ‘Violet Blue’. Around the year 2000, it came to the Hachmann nursery (Hans Hachmann / Holger Hachmann) for evaluation and possible propagation.  After joint consideration and discussion, this variety was then named by the Hachmann nursery (Holger Hachmann), registered as a patent and commercialised as ‘Heckenblau’ (Hach 1).
